Portable a/c and "casement" windows; security?

If the A/C is going to be a permanent thing. (Every year) You should just look into having a sleeve put into the wall and forget about the window. It's not very hard to do, it will save you a lot of worrying about security and you won't have to sacrifice your window every year.
