How do I avoid being called a wanna-be?

Well if you're out of high school and you get called names it's obviously going to be from people who're REALLY immature. Honestly speaking I think it's amazing that you've grown up in such a diverse culture and accepting what's not your own is a really good quality. If you get called such a thing just stick your middle finger up and walk away. People like that aren't worth your time, and the ones that are worth your time will know you well enough to never call you that.
