Unless you can prove that the false report was printed maliciously, about all you'll get is an apology. You see, libel has to be both false and intended to harm, not merely false. As for your neighbor, he's allowed to have an opinion, even if it's wrong. Only if you could demonstrate that your neighbor knowingly and maliciously (there's that word again), made false statements about you to harm your reputation or financial prospects would you have a case worth pursuing.
