Members of MCR better musicians than Muse!?

I think not, but a friend kept trying to convince me they were. I mean, MCR seem like mediocre musicians at best compared to Muse. So to people who've heard of both bands, what do you think? Or even to people who only know one of the two, why are they so good...or bad?
