Can i hook up my amp and subs to my 2002 volvo s60 stock head unit?

i am about to get my dads 2002 volvo s60 and i was wondering could i hook my amp and sub up to my HU so i will not have to rip out the stock HU and leave a big gap in the middle of my console...if not..please explain why or what i will need
