New covenant Vs. Not abolishing the law?

Everything was accomplished when Christ said "It is Finished" on the cross. He had fulfilled the requirements of the Law, and paid for the sins of those who put faith in Him. The New Life we have comes from being born again, and having the istance of the Holy Spirit. Good rules are a guide, but all fall short of them: have you always loved your neighbour as yourself, or never envied anyone, or always respected your parents, for instance. But through God's help we become like God: the new covenant changes us by uniting us in the spirit with God, and as we transform our minds to know what is right.
