Bringing a new laptop over the CAD border?

i want to travel to the states to purchase a laptop only available there, the cost is 1300$ US. after buying it i plan to return back to Canada. what information do i need to know as to bringing it over? whats the max amount of $$ aloud to be brought back to Canada without declaring it? or should i just like attempt to hide it and pretend its a laptop i already had before entering? thanks in advance --matt
